The spark
Farhan had paid for Loom for years and used maybe a tenth of it. Every recording came with a cap, a watermark, or another prompt to upgrade.
One Saturday, he decided to build the recorder he actually wanted. Something fast, generous, and simple enough to disappear behind the message. That idea became Rekkko, a free screen recorder.
Built in a day
Farhan designed and shipped the first working product in a single day using AI-assisted tools. By the end of the day, the core loop worked: record in the browser, process the video, and share it with a link.
The speed was not the point on its own. It showed what can happen when a senior product maker stays close to the problem, makes decisions quickly, and uses new tools to shorten the distance between an idea and something people can actually use.
The bet
Give away what others charge for. Every plan includes automatic transcripts, AI-generated titles, summaries, and chapters. The free plan includes 100 videos, up to 10 minutes each, kept forever.
Rekkko is built for teams that want to show the work instead of scheduling another meeting. Record the screen, explain the thinking, and send one link that anyone can watch in a browser.
From tool to brand
Rekkko worked before it looked like anything. Once the product was real, Ajith Steve shaped the brand and identity around it.
He gave the product a name people could say, a mark they could spot, and a visual character that feels calm on screen. The identity made a quickly built tool feel considered without making the experience louder or more complicated.
Design decisions
The product is designed around the recording itself, with editing and intelligence built into the same workflow.
Delete words to cut the matching part of the video. The edit follows the conversation instead of forcing people to learn a timeline.
Remove filler words and long silences without hunting through the recording by hand.
Every edit is non-destructive, so the source recording remains intact while the shared version gets sharper.
MCP lets assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT find and read recordings, turning spoken context into useful team knowledge.
The product
Three moments carry the experience from first visit to finished edit.
